4. How to use the HomeCare Desktop
If you connect to the Internet via a dial-up connection, you should first connect to the Internet. If you connect to the Internet via a LAN or Network, the HomeCare Desktop will connect you to the Internet automatically.
Double click on the HomeCare Desktop icon if you saved it to your Desktop
or Launch the program from the directory where you saved it. After you have
launched the program the following screen will appear:
|
 |
| 1. |
From the pull down menu, select the meter from which you wish to transfer data from.

|
| 2. |
Select the Serial Port (Com Port) that you attached the interface cable to from the pull down menu. If you choose a port that is not available or that you do not have installed on your computer, the HomeCare Desktop will ask you to choose another serial port.

|
| 3. |
Connect the other end of the Interface cable to your blood glucose meter and turn your meter on.
|
| 4. |
Then click the "Read Meter and Send Data to the Homecare Center" button, and a connection will attempt to be made. (Note: For MediSense® Precision XtraTM blood glucose meter users, steps three and four should be reversed.)

|
| 5. |
When a connection has been made, you will be asked to enter your HomeCare Center UserName and Password. (If a connection is not made between your meter and your computer, verify that you have selected the correct serial port and that all the connections are secure.)

|
| 6. |
After you have entered your HomeCare Center UserName, the data will be transferred to your HomeCare Center account. The Diabetes Homecare Center will display the number of records that were transferred. By clicking on the "Enter Records Page" you will enter the HomeCare Center and be able to view the data you just downloaded. (Note: In order to prevent previously entered data from being entered in duplicate, your meter's memory should be reset or verify that the data that has been entered previously in your HomeCare Center account matches the data in your meters memory.)
